1967 BSA Hornet
Service
Owner: R. M. of Raleigh, NC
COMMENTS:   One part of the service performed on this BSA was to continue its battery free operation with the addition of electronic ignition that included an upgrade to a capacitor, 2 new 6 volt coils, zener diode & rectifier.  Also customized was the ability to start the bike with a battery box should the owner choose to go battery-less.    The installation of the Boyer electronic ignition meant creating a custom wiring harness to connect all units and removal of the old Mighty Max.  Also performed was rebuilding 2 Amal mono-block carburetors, a valve adjustment, change engine oil & clean sump screen, replace primary & transmission oil, replace fuel lines, rebuild 2 push/pull petcocks, replace air filter, spark plugs & leads, replace front & rear tires, replace drive chain, and clean & seal interior of gasoline tank.  This service took over 18 hours.
The fiberglass gasoline tank was cleaned & sealed & extra attention paid to the filler neck
which had begun to delaminate

These Amal monoblock carburetors had to be milled so they would be smooth & flat
