1968 Royal Enfield Interceptor MK1a
Service
Owner: John S. of Manassas, Virginia
COMMENTS:  This Royal Enfield arrived customized to the owner's desires, but he desired a bit more specialized work and general maintenance.  The bike received a tune up with all new fluids & spark plugs and both carburetors cleaned.  The steering head bearings were repacked.  In doing this work, it was discovered the steering stop was scraping the yoke, so Randy created a spacer to provide clearance.  The customer purchased rear sets for the bike that were labeled "bolt on", but not for this particular bike.  Randy created brackets & linkages to custom fit the rear sets.  Randy also custom fit an oil cooler assembly that required creation of a special oil feed connection.  A rear gas tank clamp was obtained from the UK and installed.  A battery cover & mounting bracket was created as well as a better mount for the bike's existing Boyer electronic ignition.  A new handlebar, handlebar switch, mirrors & turn signals were added.  The existing Lucas switch cover was smoothed down & painted black to coordinate with the new handlebar switch.  Service took over 22 hours of labor.

June 2, 2010: customer email response to the question, "How is the bike doing?" "Doing great.  I have ridden it a few more times.  It’s running really well  - am very pleased with Randy’s work on it."
